Vocabulary and Topics
- Personal Info: Introducing yourself, family, age, and where you live.
- Daily Life: Food and drinks (ordering in a café), shopping, and hobbies.
- Time & Space: Telling time, days of the week, months, and describing your apartment/room.
- Work & Health: Common professions and basic body parts (saying "I have a headache").
- Past Experiences: Talking about childhood, school, and previous holidays.
- Travel & Directions: Navigating a city, booking a hotel, and describing a journey.
- Society: Media, environment, and basic talk about the weather and politics.
- Routine: Detailed descriptions of a workday or school curriculum.
Grammar
- Sentence Structure: Basic Subject-Verb-Object and W-questions (Wer, Wie, Wo, Was).
- Verbs: Present tense (Präsens) of regular and common irregular verbs (sein, haben).
- Articles & Cases: Understanding der/die/das and the difference between Nominative (subject) and Accusative (direct object).
- Negation: Using nicht and kein.
- Modal Verbs: Basics of können (can), müssen (must), and möchten (would like).
- Past Tense: Introduction of the Perfect Tense (spoken past) and Präteritum (simple past for sein/haben and modal verbs).
- The Dative Case: The third case used for indirect objects and certain prepositions (mit, nach, von, zu).
- Subordinate Clauses: Connecting ideas using weil (because), dass (that), and wenn (if/when).
- Adjective Endings: How adjectives change based on the noun's gender and case.
- Reflexive Verbs: Phrases like 'Ich wasche mich' (I wash myself).
- Comparative/Superlative: Comparing things (gut, besser, am besten).
